Keep the Event Buzz Going: The Secret Sauce to Successful Post-Event Content

Written by: Melissa Carrick

You’ve spent weeks (maybe even months) planning your big event, and now, just like that, it’s over. Social media’s already moving on to the next shiny thing. But what if people kept talking about it? What if your event was so fun (and your content so fire) that the buzz never really stopped?

Just because the event’s over doesn’t mean your content has to be. Check out our tips for turning one event into 30 days (or more!) of content that builds loyalty, drives future attendance, and keeps the buzz alive until next time. Because there’s always a next time.

Plan your post-event strategy (yes, before the event)

Most brands do a decent job of promoting before an event and sharing live updates during. But what happens after? Too often, the content just… stops. Or worse, companies go completely dark and jump back to their usual programming.

Not us, we believe a real strategy includes pre-, during-, and post-event content that keeps your audience engaged and excited for what’s next.

Creating your shot list

It all starts with the planning process. When creating your shot list, determine what you need for during the event and what you can save for later. What will keep the conversation going even when the attendees are long gone?

More is more when it comes to your shot list. You’ll thank yourself later when trends pop up and you have the perfect footage to join in.

The key is to capture everything on your list and plenty of it - you can never have too many photos or too much video. Content is king.

Bonus: Video questions to ask attendees to keep the conversation going

Don’t forget to ask attendees a few on-camera questions. These make amazing post-event reels, testimonials, and social clips.

  •  What brought you here today?

  •  What’s been your favorite part so far?

  •  What did you learn today?

  •  Finish the sentence: Next year I’m bringing ____.

  •  How would you describe this event in one word?

  • Ask three rapid either/or questions that relate to the event

  •  What would you tell someone thinking about attending?

  •  Who would you recommend this to?

  •  What was the highlight for you?

Reviewing Event Footage

Even if you didn’t think to create a post-event shot list ahead of time, there’s still so much content to repurpose! Take the time to look through event photo albums, video footage, UGC, or your own photos to start making your content plan.

Now for the fun part, incorporate your footage into your social strategy with what’s trending at the moment! Here are 30 ideas just to get you started.

Great brands know how to keep the buzz alive, build anticipation for what’s next, and stay top-of-mind with the people who matter most.

So plan ahead. Capture everything. And keep talking long after the last guest heads home.

Because there’s always a next time.
