Job Description

We’re looking for an innovative Director of Marketing Technology (MarTech) to lead AR Marketing’s digital backbone. You will define, build, and optimize the agency’s marketing technology stack and influence every AR teammate who manages paid campaigns, ensuring consistent technical standards and data integrity across all digital channels.

Your day-to-day focus will be on architecting systems and processes – from HTML5 ad standards and UTM governance to GA4/GTM integrations – while acting as a technical translator for clients and teammates. Deep SEO understanding is important for guiding strategy, but the primary focus is elevating AR Marketing’s technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own the marketing technology stack: Evaluate, implement, and document agency-wide tools for advertising, analytics, dashboards, QA, and automation.

  • Ensure technical excellence: Set and enforce agency-wide standards for marketing technology and digital advertising operations, including but not limited to UTM tracking, HTML5 ad best practices, conversion and event tagging, data layer design, API/data-feed integrations, cross-platform attribution, and ongoing compliance with emerging ad-tech and privacy requirements.

  • Leadership in cross-team technical excellence: Provide strategic direction, training, and daily support to Senior Digital Marketing Managers in technical problem-solving and collaborate with all AR teammates who place or optimize ads to ensure consistent UTM standards, event tracking, reporting accuracy, and adoption of new advertising technologies.

  • SEO/GEO oversight: Audit and challenge SEO strategies (schema, Core Web Vitals, site architecture) to ensure best practices and measurable results.

  • Client engagement: Present technical solutions in plain language to clients; partner with account teams to communicate the value of AR’s technical capabilities.

  • Occasional hands-on support: When critical issues or high-impact opportunities arise, step in to diagnose, troubleshoot, and guide the fix alongside the team, ensuring minimal disruption while reinforcing best practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive digital marketing/marketing technology experience, ideally in an agency or multi-brand environment with direct leadership responsibility.

  • Demonstrated ability to architect and manage a marketing technology stack (ad servers, analytics platforms, data connectors, customer data/consent tools) and to evaluate emerging solutions.

  • Deep expertise in web analytics and tag management (e.g., Google Tag Manager or equivalent) and data architecture (events, conversions, server-side or client-side tagging).

  • Strong understanding of paid media operations (programmatic/display, social, video/OTT) and related standards (e.g., HTML5 ad specifi cations, click tracking, third-party verifi cation).

  • Solid grounding in technical SEO/GEO fundamentals (structured data/schema markup, site performance and Core Web Vitals, crawl/indexation) to oversee and challenge SEO strategies.

  • Proven record of cross-functional collaboration and mentorship, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for marketers and clients.

  • Familiarity with privacy, compliance, and data governance (GDPR, CCPA, evolving cookie/consent frameworks) and how these aff ect ad operations.

  • Strong project-management and documentation skills, with fluency in agency workflow tools (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, Jira) and ability to establish repeatable processes.

  • Excellent communication skills and a client-facing presence capable of leading technical discussions and presenting solutions at an executive level.

  • Preferred but not required: Google Ads/GA4 certifications; exposure to marketing automation or CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo).
